Review | Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse Ultra Dark

Like a lot of girls I love a good tan. Im forever on the hunt for new products that are going to give me a deep tan with as little hassle as possible. As you can probably imagine, this has led to a a few dodgy products being tested and I've been every shade of orange over the years. There has been some little treasures along the way but the road to finding the perfect faux glow has been a rocky one with so many failing to live up to expectations.

Loving Tan is an Australian brand and seems to be dominating the "My Fake Tan Routine" videos on youtube lately, (yes, I love fake tan that much that I spend my time watching other people do theirs!) and being the green eyed little consumer that I am, I set out to find where I could get me a bottle of this liquid gold! Fast forward 3 days and my well travelled package landed into my pasty little hands. I opted for the Ultra Dark formula as like I said before, I love to be very dark, but there are shades to suit everybody's preferences on the website. Quick side note but if you are in the UK I 100% recommend purchasing through Princess Polly, I can't believe my parcel arrived in the UK so quickly, after being shipped from Australia.

Loving Tan

One of the things about Loving Tan that initially caught my eye was the fact that it contains Erythrulose, this is an ingredient that helps to banish orange tones, leading to a natural olive tan. Also, many other self tanners contain around 3-5% DHA, Loving Tan Ultra Dark boasts a massive 13%. This is so exciting to me, DHA is the active ingredient that tans need to develop so the higher the percentage the deeper the tan. And lets be honest the most obvious attraction is the packaging. Who wouldn't want that pretty pink and white bottle sat on their dressing table?

Pre Tan Prep

Preparation is key to getting a good even tan. So prior to applying I jump in the shower to defuzz & exfoliate. Paying close attention to areas that the tan tends to cling to, the ankles, knees, elbows & underarms. I always like to wait for at least an hour after I've showered before I start the application, the heat of the shower causes our pores to open, so I like to give them time to close over again to prevent the tan from sinking into the pores and making my legs look like speckled eggs.

Application

Before I start, I like to I completely cover my hands & feet with a lightweight body lotion and apply a thin layer to the areas I previously mentioned. This stops too much tan clinging to these areas & developing darker than everywhere else. I apply around 2-3 pumps of tan per limp and buff it in using a mitt, leaving my hands free of tan until later. To get a better control of the product, I use a buffing brush to really work the tan into my face, neck & hands. I personally like to apply a second coat to my legs, arms & chest once the first is dry but that's down to personal preference. After giving myself a few minutes to dry I throw on some loose fitting pj's and hop into bed.

Results

Waking up the next morning I was quite alarmed at how dark the tan actually was, especially on my face. But after a quick rinse in the shower, I was left with a beautifully even tan. I didn't use any products at this point, allowing the water to rinse off the guide colour which came off nice and easy. With a lot of other self tanners, I feel that I have to repeat the process the following night but with Loving Tan Ultra Dark, one application was enough to give me a lovely natural yet deep colour. Another major bonus for me was the scent, most fake tans have a really distinct odour where as this particular product is very pleasantly fragranced and smells quite sweet. Now it is early days but I do feel like this could be my new holy grail tanner. Even the fact that I have to order it from Australia doesn't put me off as the shipping was so quick it's probably the same as ordering from a UK website. I really want to try Loving Tans 2 hour express tan next, the idea of only having to wait two hours for my tan to develop sounds like pure heaven to me!! I would love to know your opinions in the comments.

Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mouse Ultra Dark retails for £14.72 and can be purchased here.

Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

With so many facial brushes on the market, its hard to know which one to go for. I was lucky enough to receive the Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush recently and decided to test it out.

As is the case with all Clinique products the Sonic Cleansing Brush has been developed by dermatologists. Its gentle sonic vibrations cleanse the skin four times more effectively than hand washing alone and remove impurities for cleaner, clearer looking skin. The flat white bristles are ideal for cleansing the cheeks, while the green bristles are designed to unclog pores in the t zone so are firmer and slightly angled

As opposed to some of the other electronic facial brushes on the market, the design of the Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush is super sleek and lightweight. The size is really compact so it wont be too much of a nuisance to pack away if you are travelling. The fact that it generally only needs charging 3 times a year is an added bonus too.

I love the fact that the brush shuts off after 30 seconds, no need to worry about overdoing it if your skin is quite sensitive. I tend to use it for 1 minute so i just press the on button to start it up again.

As the brush is waterproof I just take it into the shower with me and dampen both my face and the bristles. I apply a small amount of Clinique's Liquid Facial soap directly to the brush and buff it in using circular motions. Although the head doesn't rotate, there is no need to apply pressure its best to just let the brush glide over the skin. After rinsing off the excess soap I lightly dry the bristles on a clean towel, replace the cap and pop it back on its stand.

Using the brush has definitely improved the overall texture and radiance in my skin. I have a nice healthy glow after cleansing and my skin has never felt to smooth! I was quite surprised with how much makeup was on the brush that my makeup remover had left behind! I normally find cleansing such a chore but using the brush adds a little bit of fun and I actually look forward to my nightly skincare routine!

Cliniques Sonic Cleansing Brush retails for £79 and can be purchased here.

GLOSSYBOX | April 2015

First off, how has it been a month since my last Glossybox review all ready? Having absolutely loved the March box, I was so excited when my April box arrived yesterday. Aprils " The Iconic Edit" box contains three full size products and is a mix of makeup, nails and skin care.

The Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil is the probably my favorite product in this months box. The shade kiss is supposed to be a modern take on Marilyn Monroe's classic pillar box pout. Im looking forward to seeing if it is easier to apply due to it being a pencil rather than a regular lipstick. This is a full size product that retails for £10.

I like that a retro product has been included in the Iconic Edit. Astrals Original Face and Body Moisturizer is said to have been a favorite of hollywood stars & makeup artists since the 1950s. As well as hydrating deep below the skin's surface, it can also be used to remove makeup. A 200ml tub retails for £3.89.

The next full size product pays homage to Elizabeth Taylor's iconic cat eye. The POP Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pen can be used to create a bang on trend winged liner or a smokey smudged liner look thanks to it having a smudger on one end of the pencil. At £6.50 it isn't going to break the bank either.

This Color Club Barely There Nail Polish is perfect for the nude nails trend this spring/summer. This shade is supposed to compliment any skin tone and dries to a glossy finish. This is another full size product that retails for £4.10

Lastly is the product that disappointed me this month, purely because I have no use for it. These Nougat London Soothing Bath Pearls contain a subtle shimmer that creates a "limb lengthening" sheen. Sadly, I'm from a shower only home (something that pains me everyday!) so I won't get to use these and find out how limb lengthening they really are. 35mls cost £6

Aside from the bath pearls Im happy with this months box and cant wait to test everything out! Glossybox is a monthly subscription that costs £10 per month plus postage and can be purchased here.

Mini Beauty Haul

Garnier Pure Micellar Cleansing Water

I have recently had semi permanent lashes applied, so I picked this up to remove the makeup around my eyes to avoid getting the lashes wet. I Have used this before & really enjoyed it. It takes your makeup off really easily and is nice and refreshing on the skin. At £4.99 for 200ml its a steal as you don't need much to get the job done so one bottle lasts for a while. You can pick it up here.

Kevin Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer | SX01

I have been lusting after this for such a long time and finally decided to bite the bullet and order it. Its a bit on the pricey side at £36 for 18g so its definitely a special occasions only product. I have heard so many good things about this product so im looking forward to trying it out. If you would like a full review on this or any of the other items in this haul, just let me know in the comments below. You can buy this product here.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer | Fair
This is right down at the lower end of the pricey concealer scale. At £4.19 its such a bargain. Collection could easily charge a lot more for this concealer, it gives a beautiful amount of coverage and I prefer it a lot more than some high end concealers I have tried. The minute I start running low I have to go out and get a back up! You can find it here.

Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil & Brush | Hot Chocolate
Ive been looking for a more natural option for filling in my brows, so deciding to give this a try after seeing a lot of good reviews about it. It has a pencil on one end, which is the perfect texture for subtly defining the brows, and a spooly on the other end to groom the brows into place. I've been tempted to buy the Anastasia Brow Wiz but thought I'd try this first, at £8 its a little bit cheaper than the Anastasia pencil. Click here to find out more.

Stila In The Light Eye Shadow Palette

This is another product that I have wanted for so long! I really don't need any more neutral shadows, but I have been dying to get my hands on the kitten shade that is in this palette for years so I just went ahead and bought it before I could talk myself out of it. It has a perfect mix of neutral shades in both matte and shimmer finishes, and kitten definitely didn't disappoint! Im looking forward to using this more in the summer as a lot of the shadows have a golden undertone which will look beautiful in the sun. You can find the palette here.

March Favourites

March was a long ol' month for me. With a little trip away at the start of the month, where A LOT of spending was done, the rest of the month was a bit of a drag waiting for payday. Heres a round up of my obsessions in March.

I initially purchased this for a subtle and easy to maintain tan for my recent holiday & it's fast becoming my go to tanning product. It's so easy to use and provides a natural looking deep glow. For a full product review click here.

MAC Cinderella Stroke Of Midnight Eye shadow Palette

Out of everything I bought from the Cinderella collection, this is the only product that I am 100% happy with. I have worn it everyday since I got it as all of the shades are neutral so are ideal for work and day to day life. And obviously the packaging is a winner. To see everything I purchased from the Cinderella line click here

This highlighting powder gives an intense gold glow to the cheeks and instantly lifts the face.

I picked this up whilst I was on holiday, i had only taken one perfume with me which is a bit on the pricey side and I didn't want to waste it. In turn it has quickly developed into my go to day to day perfume. It has such a light feminine scent and at only £10 its a steal! Im useless at describing smells so I wont even try to, but next time your in Zara, go and have a a little look in the perfume section, they wont disappoint.

Pretty Little Liars

I finally decided to watch PLL after hearing everyone going on about how good it was & I'm hooked! I'm nearly up to date with it & don't want it to end! If you love girly dramas then this one is definitely for you!

Rome

For the first week of March I was on holiday in Rome. I went for 4 days in November and booked to go back for a week the day after I got home as I loved it so much. I am in love with everything about this city. Every street you walk down tells a story and food is just so incredible. The amount of both high end and high street shopping that is on offer is an added bonus too! See you in November amore mio.

Primark PS Love Lip Products

I'll admit it, I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to makeup. I don't necessarily dislike drugstore products but when it comes down to it I always tend to opt for high end makeup brands. As you can imagine this has quite an impact on my bank balance so last time on my last trip to primark, I decided to have a little mooch around their beauty stands. I picked up two of the 3D Shine lipglosses and one liquid lipstick. The shades are all pretty similar (well done Ashlie) but at £2 a pop thats not really a problem.

3D Shine Lipgloss

L to R | PS Love 3D Shine Lipglosses 43 & 35

I am so impressed with these lipglosses. They formula is very pigmented meaning they can be worn alone & they would also look fab layered over a lipstick. 43 is a beautiful coraly pink with a subtle silver shimmer. It gives a lovely light wash of colour over the lips and makes them look glossy and plump. 35 is a bright fuschia pink that is packed with glitter. Once its applied the glitter isnt detectable,it just amps up the shine making the lips look super wet and glossy.

Liquid Lipstick

PS Love Liquid Lipstick 08

I initially bought this thinking it would be a matte bubble gum pink, but the colour looks darker once its on the lips and is quite berry toned. As you can see from the swatch it still has a glossy finish which is more subtle than the lipglosses, but still helps to make the lips look plump. Once again the pigmentation is amazing and not what you would expect from a £2 product.

I have to say i'm pretty impressed by these products. The packaging is well made and sturdy, I was worried that as they are so inexpensive, the packaging would be flimsy and leak easily but this isn't the case at all. I love the sleek tube, gold & black handle/lid and simple logo. They aren't the most long wearing of lip products, for me this isnt a problem but if your a no touch ups kinda gal this may not be the product for you. The only thing I'm not too keen on is the scent. The smell is very artificial and sweet which is a bit sickly but it wears away after a while. Both of these products have a brush applicator and the formula is quite thick and sticky, again this isn't something that bothers me, but some people might find them uncomfortable to wear. Im looking forward to trying more from from the PS Love line, What are your favourites?

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturizer | £5.99

As a self proclaimed "avid fake tanner" you would think I'd enjoy a prolonged tanning sesh using a "proper" mouse or lotion but in actual fact, I loathe it! Keen to find something that would eliminate the lengthy tanning process I took myself off to boots and came across the Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturizer.

I Apply the lotion after showering and exfoliating the same way I would with any other body lotion, but paying extra attention to areas where the "tan" can cling, like my knees and elbows. Once I have finished I wash my hands and using plastic gloves I apply a small amount to each hand, keeping my palms free of any product. I was rather skeptical at first as there is only one colour option, but even after one layer, my skin had more of a glow than usual. To develop a darker tone I find applying it every night for 2/3 nights results in a deep olive tan.

The lotion its self feels thick & luxurious but sinks into the skin quickly so there is no need to faff around waiting for it to dry. Along with cocoa butter, the lotion is packed with vitamin E so the skin is left feeling super soft and hydrated. The smell is also a bonus, although there is still a hint of the usual fake tan odour, the tell tale cocoa butter-chocolaty-scent makes it slightly more bearable. I haven't noticed the colour transfering on any of my clothes but my white bed sheets do have a slight orange tinge the morning after I apply it.

I can honestly say this body lotion is my new best friend and has quickly replaced all my other tanning products.

Spring Fashion Wishlist

Spring is upon us, I say that loosely seeing as its still wet and cold in the UK but it is the end of March, so to me its spring! I have started getting quite sick and tired of all the winter pieces in my wardrobe and with payday looming, I have been browsing through some websites seeing what I can snap up to give my wardrobe a much needed revamp. As you will see I am massively into plain white "basics" and stripes, it may be boring and repetitive to some but I love the simplicity it.
